STEPS TO APPLY FOR AN LPFM STATION

1.

Only a non-profit organization, city or government agency may apply for an LPFM

2.

Contract with a reputable broadcast engineering firm for a frequency search.

We suggest   Erickson Broadcast Sales Corporation.
3. When the FCC opens the filing window, your engineer will file the form 318 on-line.
4. When the applications are accepted for filing, your engineer will be able to report back to
you regarding any competing applications.
   A.  If there are competing applications, negotiating with the other parties may allow for a
compromise such as sharing agreements or other engineering solutions.
  B. If there are no other applications, your construction permit may be issued as
the FCC has time to process it, perhaps as long as a year.
5. Complete studio and transmitting packages are on this website or you may contact
one of the following sites by these links:

EBS, Broadcast Radio, Broadcast World, Radio Biz.

You must have a Construction Permit from the FCC to build a radio ststion in the USA. If you do not already have a permit, call 1-888-830-8223 and request information on the application process.  If you do not have an FCC permit and do not intend to obtain one, you do not have the legal right to own broadcast equipment. If you wish to have a "Hobby" or neighborhood radio station, please visit www.radiobiz.org. More information is on the "Minimums" page.

Once you have a valid construction permit, you may place an order for broadcast equipment.
